SRH universities can independently ensure the quality of their study programmes
For the first time in Germany, a university network has received the quality seal "System Accredited". The SRH University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg, the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences (with the associated Dresden School of Management) and the SRH Fernhochschule - The Mobile University were audited by the Accreditation Council. The Accreditation Council certifies that the internal quality management of the three universities meets the requirements for an independent accreditation of study programmes.
"System accreditation gives us the opportunity to carry out the accreditation of our Bachelor's and Master's programmes more flexibly, to react more quickly to the needs of the market and to always live up to our claim as quality leader," says Prof. Dr. Ottmar Schneck, Rector of SRH Fernhochschule. As system-accredited universities, the SRH universities can thus independently ensure the quality of their study programmes.
"For our students, this seal of approval is an important signal, because they can be sure that they will receive an up-to-date, practice-oriented and methodically tested study programme," explained Prof. Dr. Victoria Büsch, President of the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences.
In order to meet the requirements of the Accreditation Council, the universities defined common quality processes. They ensure comparable quality standards at all three locations and give room to the respective special features and profiles. The CORE (Competence Oriented Research and Education) study model serves as a common denominator for quality in teaching and provides guidelines for teaching. "A special feature of our accreditation in the network is the involvement of external didactics experts in the reaccreditation of study programmes, as usually only practical and subject experts are involved," said Prof. Dr. Katja Rade, Rector of SRH University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg.
To ensure a smooth process, the independent association "Quality Network of Higher Education e. V." was founded for the system accreditations at the SRH universities. This association is responsible for and coordinates the accreditations and quality analyses at the three university locations.
